Event description

In collaboration with the Bob Brown Foundation, we present a series of short films exploring the biodiversity of takayna and the community resistance against its destruction.

The evening will commence with guest speaker and lead action organiser, Dr Lisa Searle from the Bob Brown Foundation, followed by a short film festival, presenting six short films to show the beauty, strength, and diversity of takayna and the campaign to save a unique rainforest from a toxic tailings dam. Witness the strength of the campaign to protect ancient takayna through these stories.

Watch the discovery of a pair of Masked Owls in the threatened forest, and see the incredibly rare footage that ultimately led to the successful legal challenge against MMG.Learn about the discovery of an entirely new species of moth, living only in takayna’s ancient myrtle rainforests. Be inspired by the months-long mobilisation of citizens against the destruction of takayna – with more than 90 people arrested – and cheer as we ultimately drive MMG’s machinery from the forests – for now. Hear these and other inspirational stories of dedication, commitment, and the battle to protect a rainforest.

This is a licensed all ages event and a vegan menu will be available on the evening. 100% of ticket sales will be donated to the Bob Brown Foundation.
