Her writing has been shortlisted for the Sisters in Crime Davitt Awards, the Bad Sydney Crime Danger Awards, and longlisted for the Richell Prize.   Emma Babbington is a London-born, Sydney-based author and journalist and is currently news editor for Australia's bestselling weekly magazine, Woman's Day, where she heads up the real life and crime section. Her 25 year career in the UK and Australia on newspapers and magazines has seen her interview celebrities, everyday heroes and even the occasional criminal (and given plenty of inspiration for writing novels). She writes novels that are part psychological thriller, part family mystery and full of twists and turns. Her debut novel, The Neighbours, was released in 2025 to critical acclaim and her second book, The Gardens, just hit shelves in June 2026.

  Kate Horan

  Kate Horan’s debut novel, The Inheritance, was an instant Top Ten Australian Bestseller, and was chosen as QBD’s Fiction Book of the Month in January 2025. Her professional background is in corporate communications, helping executives to pitch and present. Before that, she taught English and Drama at high schools in western Sydney where she relished inspiring teenagers with a love of reading and writing. She graduated from the University of Sydney in 2001 with an Honours degree in English Literature. After many years of feeling the niggle to write her own stories, she attended Faber Academy’s Writing a Novel program in 2020. Her second book, On the Edge, is out now with HQ HarperCollins.

  Joan Sauers is a screenwriter, author and producer who worked in London, Los Angeles and New York before settling in Australia. She has lectured in screenwriting in London, Paris, Berlin and Casablanca and has had seventeen books published in Australia, the US, India and Japan. Joan was a screenwriter on Heartbreak High, as well as Wakefield and Ladies In Black, and is currently writing a comedy feature film about older women. She was the script editor on films including The Babadook and TV shows, Rake and The Principal. Joan’s novels, Echo Lake, Whisky Valley and Murder at Thornwood Park, are the first in her series of mysteries for which the television rights have just been sold. Joan lives in the Southern Highlands where her books are set.
