LOOKING FOR FOOD AND LODGING?

The stars don’t come out until dark, so there is a whole day to fill first. Twentynine Palms has hotels, historic motels and inns, the area’s largest RV resort, and a colorful collection of vacation rentals — most just minutes from the festival. When you get hungry, you’ll find everything from farm-to-table and classic American to Thai, Caribbean, and Mexican, plus a weekly Farmer’s Market. Between events there are historic art galleries, world-class murals and public art installations, and shops worth wandering into.

Visit 29 Palms, the official visitors’ center, at visit29.org or (760) 358-6324.

EXCLUSIVE - SPACE IS LIMITED

Private constellation tours are available through Joshua Tree Excursions. Tour sales benefit Sky’s The Limit Observatory & Nature Center and JTNPA’s DiscoverJTREE program. Book at joshuatreeexcursions.com/night-sky-festival-stargazing-tour

Night Sky Festival Weather Update

We’re keeping an eye on the forecast for this weekend’s Night Sky Festival. As of today, the festival is going on as scheduled.

Friday’s forecast looks clear. For Saturday, the National Weather Service shows a chance of showers late in the evening, after 11 pm. Telescope viewing depends on clear skies, but the festival has much more to offer, including the Agua Caliente Bird Singers, storytelling, a variety show, and other activities.

If the weather changes our plans, we will post an update and email all ticket holders. Updates will also be on the Sky’s the Limit voicemail at (760) 490-9561.

If you would prefer not to attend, we will process refunds upon request. We do encourage everyone to keep in mind that desert weather can shift quickly, and the current forecast may change before the weekend. The Night Sky Festival is a meaningful event for Sky’s the Limit Observatory, the National Park Service, and JTNPA, and there is so much to experience beyond telescope viewing. We’re hopeful for a wonderful weekend and appreciate your support of this special community event!

Please dress in layers, bring a rain jacket just in case, and check back for updates before you head out.
