An Evening with Doug Bradley, Award-Winning Author
Event description
On Wednesday, September 13th, we will welcome back one of our members’ favorite authors, Doug Bradley, for a presentation on his newest book, Who'll Stop the Rain: Respect, Remembrance, and Reconciliation in Post-Vietnam America.
Bradley is an author, educator, and Vietnam war veteran from Madison, WI. In his 2015 award-winning book, We Gotta Get Out of This Place: The Soundtrack of the Vietnam War, Doug Bradley and Craig Werner Dou placed popular music at the heart of the American experience in Vietnam. Over the next two years, they made more than 100 presentations coast-to-coast, witnessing honest, respectful exchanges among audience members. That journey prompted Bradley to write Who’ll Stop the Rain: Respect, Remembrance, and Reconciliation in Post-Vietnam America and to further explore how the music of the era, shared by those who served and those who stayed, helped create safe, nonjudgmental environments for listening, sharing, and understanding.
Join us for the evening to enjoy light hors d'oeuvres and Bradley’s presentation. This event will begin at 6:00 PM and the price is $25 for Madison Club members and $35 for the general public. A cash bar will also be available. Bradley will have copies of both of his books for sale and will be available to sign your copy after his presentation.
