Nika Mo (WA) and Gilly & Bede x Goodwood Books
Event description
Join us at the beautiful Goodwood Books for a Tuesday night of music and physical media, with guest artist Nika Mo from WA touring their new EP 'Panicle' and a set by local folk darlings Gilly & Bede. We are also excited to launch our
first caps lock publication, (please don't) hang the dj by Emily Wilson, a
series of 3 profiles of artists from Tarntanya (Venus of Swapmeet, V of
Keeskea/Workshorse and Thea of short snarl) as well as the titular essay, all in hand-bound book form.
Nika Mo is the tangential, sentimental, wandering art-folk project from Boorloo-based maverick Annika Moses. Bathed in the luminous glow of lavender-tinged suburbia, their new EP Panicle dives head first into the emotional swirl of early adulthood, with deft songwriting and unmatched lyricism.
Gilly & Bede are a sister folk duo on Kaurna Yerta. Comprised of cello, guitar, and voices in harmony, the pair combine traditional, 1960s and contemporary influences to create a characteristically melodic and poetic folk sound.
Born in Tokyo and currently living in Adelaide, Emily (Ellie) Wilson is the South Australian writer for The Music, was a finalist of the 2024 Miki Prize for her short story 'To Turn Into You' and publishes a Substack 'slow babes' of personal essays and artist profiles, of which the 4 pieces in this caps lock publication were first published in. Now you can hold these words in your hands in book format!
