Join us for an in-conversation between curator Nina Stromqvist and multidisciplinary artist Karlina Mitchell, as they reflect on the evolution of Mitchell’s expansive practice and examine the key ideas shaping her exhibition, Homeplace.
Karlina Mitchell
Karlina Mitchell is a multidisciplinary artist. Karlina works with photography and installation to interrogate the ways in which diasporic communities express notions of self and communal identity.
Nina Stromqvist
Nina Stromqvist is curator and writer with broad ranging experience across curatorial practice, arts management, and advisory work. Her career spans exhibition development, community-focused initiatives, consultancy, and research. She was recently contracted as a curator with Urban Art Projects (2025) and has also held the role of Curatorial Programs Manager at Penrith Regional Gallery, Home of the Lewers Bequest (2022-2024). Nina currently teaches at UNSW Art & Design and the University of Sydney, specialising in Museum studies and Contemporary Curating.

ACCESSIBILITY: The gallery is wheelchair accessible from the Brunswick St entrance. The passenger lift is accesible from the Brunswick St entrance, as well as the Level 1 Berwick Str courtyard entrance. Bathrooms are located on Level 1 of the Judith Wright Arts Centre.
