𝘖𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘮𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴:

How would a live and continuous flow of question and response from sound and music create a film? With static frames and dynamic sound, NO/GENRE x Curb Dance begins with an experiment in spontaneous and collaborative filmmaking with three new 10-minute original short films by filmmakers and video artists 𝐓𝐲𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐢𝐧, 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐦, and 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐨𝐧, scored live by improvisational musicians 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐲, 𝐋𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐦, and 𝐒𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐯𝐚 (respectively).

𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤:

Catch the 40+ years running spiritual high-energy cross-genre free jazz band 𝐁𝐎𝐇𝐉𝐀𝐒𝐒 (Bandcamp), 𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐔𝐒 (Bandcamp) - the brainchild of Sol Filshie (aka Solsa), Henry Lai-Pyne (aka Eek) & Thorsten Hertog (aka Thick Owens), and the club-adjacent rhythmic noise of drums, steel, concrete, and bricks from 𝐑. 𝐑𝐄𝐁𝐄𝐈𝐑𝐎 (Bandcamp).

𝘋𝘑𝘴:

Featuring a frenzied, percussive, and genre-bending set from NO/GENRE’s 𝐀𝐀𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐇 (SoundCloud) and a pounding, dark, and galvanising two-hour closing set from 𝐅𝐄𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐄 𝐖𝐈𝐙𝐀𝐑𝐃 (SoundCloud), who has vitalised Naarm/Melbourne’s dance music community for almost a decade, spearheading a new wave of queer DJing and playing acclaimed festivals and events such as CTM Festival, Boiler Room, Golden Plains, Dark Mofo, and Soft Centre.

𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴:

Spontaneous and intermittent performances by 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐀 𝐆𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐆𝐇𝐄𝐑 (who upholds her tenants of degeneracy, delinquency and debauchery to form a practice in dance making and live cinematic experimentation), April May, Willie Law, Carter Hammond, and more… Installations and staging by Kit Johnston and Lauren Williams.

Free rooftop entry from 6 to 8PM, curated by Converge’s 𝐤𝟖 𝐦𝟎𝟓𝟓.

𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐍𝐨 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲/𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐫 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡.
