Event description

No Lights No Lycra Walyalup/Fremantle takes place on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar. Whadjuk Noongar people are the rightful custodians of the land, and we pay respects to their elders past and present. Sovereignty was never ceded. Always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

Welcome to the return of No Lights No Lycra Fremantle/Walyalup! My name is Gok-Lim and I danced here when it was run by Rose Megirian in 2013. I'm returning to this and picking up organising it as I miss the joyful movement, and welcoming vibes of this No Lights No Lycra particularly, and I hope I can do it justice in bringing a wholesome, sweet moment to let loose and have a little midweek dance with yourself.

No Lights No Lycra is an hour of dancing in the dark by yourself alongside strangers and friends. It's meditative, fun, and silly, and you're encouraged to dress as daggy and comfortable as you like. It is

- a friendly, non-judgmental, drug and alcohol-free atmosphere.
- a place where everyone is a dancer.
- an inclusive community.
- a safe place to dance freely with no one watching and explore self-expression through movement.
- a place to exercise at your own pace.

Entry is $10, which covers venue hire, admin time, and insurance. But no one will be turned away for lack of funds, so please come along if you'd like!
