WHAT TO EXPECT?
No Lights No Lycra (NLNL) is a weekly, lights-off, judgement-free dance space where you move purely for the joy of it. There are no steps, no mirrors, no talking and no expectations — just music and freedom.
The room is dark enough that you can’t see faces, only silhouettes. After a few minutes your eyes adjust, and you’ll find your own space to dance. Everyone dances independently and non-contact, making it a safe, respectful and welcoming environment.
🎶 Music
Expect a diverse, ever-changing playlist — from dance floor classics and cheesy favourites to soulful, funky, folky, weird and wonderful tracks. You’ll love some, hate some, and probably discover something new. You’re welcome to sit out or gently move to any song.
👤 Coming alone?
Totally normal and encouraged. Many people attend solo and feel right at home once the music starts.
✨ What to wear
Anything you feel comfortable moving in — from track pants to sequins. Lycra is optional. Clothes are required 😉
📵 Phones & talking
This is a talk-free and phone-free space. Phones, smartwatches and bright lights disrupt the darkness, so they need to be fully put away. Playlists are shared later, so no need to Shazam.
🌈 Inclusive & safe
NLNL is drug- and alcohol-free, and a safe space for all bodies, ages, genders, abilities and backgrounds, including the LGBTQI+ community. If you want to be here, you belong.
💛 If you love it
You can come every week.
If it’s not for you
You’re free to leave anytime — no one will notice in the dark.
Come as you are. Dance how you want. Let the lights go out and the magic begin ✨
