No Place Like Home: Young People's Stories Of Life Without It
Event description
In order to deliver services and provide solutions that best meet the needs of young people engaged in the homelessness sector, we need to listen to their voices. Young people’s voices don’t currently have a platform in the housing and homelessness services sector, but YHAC strives to create this advocacy pathway. YHAC’s lived experience public speaking program empowers young people to share their stories to improve the community’s understanding of youth homelessness, which is crucial to improving how homelessness services engage with young people and how policies frame youth homelessness.
“No Place Like Home” celebrates the launch of YHAC’s program and paves the way for educational advocacy to destigmatise youth homelessness. Members from YHAC will present their lived experiences, which will be followed by a panel discussion on the realities of youth homelessness. This engagement will enhance the connections between the government, the sector and those with lived experience by expanding upon their understanding of youth homelessness.
