__________________________________________________________________________________________

On October 7, the Palestinian terrorist group, Hamas, infiltrated Israel in a series of meticulously planned and coordinated attacks massacring, violating and kidnapping Israeli civilians. Women were raped and tortured.

We are disturbed and outraged by the silence about the gender-based violence suffered by Israeli women and girls.

The outright skepticism and gaslighting of Israeli and Jewish women and attempts to downplay the scale of Hamas’s atrocities on October 7, has been dramatic as international attention quickly moved on from the invaders’ brutality to the Israeli military response.

To the world, including UN Women and most sexual assault and women’s advocacy groups around the globe, it would appear that the pain of Israeli women is not valid. Indeed, the women’s movement at large by its silence, seems to accept that rape is an acceptable 'act of resistance'.

As part of the 16 Days of Activism for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women please join us for a vigil  on Monday. 4th December, at 5.15pm.

Our goal is to stand in solidarity with - and as testimony to - the girls and women who were raped, slaughtered and kidnapped; and, to convey the collective pain and indignation triggered by the silence of women’s rights advocates and organisations.
