No Great Expectations: An Improvised Tale from Classic Literature (Wollongong Comedy Festival)

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Local, award-nominated comedians Room For IMPROVment are back at the Wollongong Comedy Festival and are ready to mess up some classic literature with a story made up completely on the spot.

We all have a favourite novel! Think of that book, the joy it makes you feel… then imagine a stage-full of idiots who have never read it ruining it. You select the book on our social media and then leave the rest to our improvisers, who will try and recreate it with no knowledge to help them. This adaptation will be anything but faithful, so have no great expectations, but it's sure to be a story filled with laughs from some of the areas best improv comedians. Classic literature will never be the same, but never fear as our host Bradley Ward will desperately try to keep the story on track in this hilarious new show that puts the must-read literary canon in a brand new light.

No Great Expectations comes to you from Wollongong locals Room for IMPROVment who have created popular shows in the past such as Comedy Olympics at the Wollongong Town Hall, The Pitch at the Spiegeltent and Wollongong Comedy Festival and FIASCO that performs annually at The Music Lounge. No Great Expectations was originally created for our 24 Hour Improv Marathon in 2022 and then brought back to tour in 2023 because or audience and cast loved it so much. We hope you'll join us for our return to the Wollongong Comedy Festival and help support your local comedians before this show hits the road in September.
