North Shore Emergency Department Picket for Safe Staffing!
Description
On October the 1st from 11am to 12pm, North Shore Hospital Emergency Department nurses and health care assistants will go on strike for safe staffing.
Their demands are simple:
Approving and recruiting the additional 25 nursing FTE identified through the safe staffing program immediately to North Shore Emergency Department.
Commit to culturally appropriate enforceable nurse-to-patient ratios that reflect patient acuity and demand in Emergency Departments. Comparable jurisdictions staff Emergency Departments at 1:1 in resuscitation, 1:3 in acute care, and 1:4 in fast track (this includes triage and short stay). We need enforceable ratios, so that this never happens again.
This is a historic picket, it will be the biggest health and safety action in recent history, and it is another indicator of the state of emergency our public health system is in.
Let's stand with North Shore Emergency Department nurses and health care assistants as they make a stand for safe staffing, their patients and their community.
