Welcome to registration for Fencing North’s first Secondary Schools Individual Tournament of 2025
We look forward to seeing you at the Netball Waitakere Centre, Te Pai Place, Henderson.
Entry is open to those 13 years and over at date of competition.
(in special circumstances, and by agreement between a coach and the DT, students younger than 13 may be allowed to enter our Regional competitions)

Entry Fees
Standard registration $30.00 plus booking and cc fees up to 23.55h on Monday 19th May 2025.
Late entry is $50.00 plus booking and cc fees.
Late entries are subject to availability and at the discretion of the DT. Last entry is 23.55h on THURSDAY before the competition (22nd May)
‘Out of Town’ Entries
This applies to any fencer from the FENCING NORTH REGION who does not reside in Auckland.
If you are a Fencing North member who lives outside of the metropolitan Auckland area, please contact the organiser about a discount.

EQUIPMENT STANDARDS
Gear Exceptions specific to the Regional Secondary Schools Tournaments;
BREECHES: 350N or above are preferred (especially for Epee where legs are a target areai) and Fencing North will have a small amount of clothing to loan on the day. Sturdy track pants can be allowed, so long as no loose/open pockets but a waiver must be signed. (Thin leggings/skins are not acceptable)
SOCKS: Thick knee-length socks must be worn.
BLADES: FIE blades not compulsory for this competition
GLOVES (SABRE): 800N resistance is the normal standard. Where schools do not have sufficient gloves of this rating, we will accept standard fencing gloves worn with a conductive sleeve/cuff.
For foil and Epée, weights and gauges will be employed at the piste.
There will be no gear check for this competition but all clothing must be in a good state of repair.
There will be gear testing at the National Championships in August.
The standards outlined below are those required for the 2025 National Secondary Schools Championships (held in Christchurch - August) and are provided to enable our fencers time to prepare.
For the Nationals please ensure that your equipment conforms to the following standards:
Torso: | Minimum of 1150N protection. This can be made up of either a 350N Jacket with an 800N plastron or an 800N Jacket and a 350N plastron, | |
Breeches: | 350N (CEN 1) | |
Masks: | All masks must fit well and be in good condition. The elastic strap shall be in good working order with elasticity and able to return to its original position after stretching without any deformation. | |
Gloves: | Must be in good condition and have no hole for body wires. 800N gloves are required for Sabre. | |
Chest Protector: | Compulsory for Women’s events. Optional for Men. | |
Foil Specific: | Lame Bibs are required. Curly mask wires are not permitted. | |
Épée Specific: | FIE blades are required. | |
Sabre Specific: | FIE blades S2000 or later are required. |

MORNING FENCERS
** Please arrive at 7.30am in time to help to set up the stadium, register, change and warm up.
AFTERNOON FENCERS ** Please stay and help with equipment pack-down as required **
8.00 - 8.15 am Men’s Epée Registration
8.00 - 8.15 am Women’s Foil Registration
8.00 - 8.15 am Men’s Sabre or Mixed Sabre Registration
(If there is a separate Women's Sabre event timing for this may change slightly)
11.30-11.45 am Women’s Epée Registration
12.00-12.15 pm Men’s Foil Registration

Affiliation/Membership
To compete in Fencing North competitions you must be affiliated with Fencing New Zealand.
FeNZ membership runs from 1/Jan - 31/Dec.
Please always sign up with the same name, to help us accredit ranking points.
FeNZ affiliation fees are additional to the competition entry.
