Northern Adelaide Defence Industry Networking
Description
Presented by City of Playford and the Stretton Centre, the inaugural Northern Adelaide Defence Industry Networking event presents an exciting industry network, bringing together SMEs, primes, government and talent to create meaningful defence industry connections.
As Northern Adelaide continues to build momentum as a key location to support defence industry growth in South Australia - this new networking series is designed to support that growth for the long term by building knowledge, connection and opportunity.
Our aim is for attendees to understand the opportunities, how to access them and provide a meaningful chance for networking, ultimately being a powerful forum to underpin growth of the sector locally.
This event features presentations from Boeing Australia, South Australian business BiORG's CEO Doug Phillips and the City of Playford.
Why this network matters:
The purpose of this inaugural event is to build the foundation of a long-term industry network designed to:
Enable collaboration between industry members to foster collaboration
Support SMEs to connect into defence supply chains to create real pathways for contracts and growth
Fostering connections with relevant government representatives that foster resilience and create opportunity
Strengthen defence industry capability in Northern Adelaide to support the State and Federal objectives.
By bringing all industry and government into the same room, these sessions aim to act as a catalyst for targeted investment and a shared understanding of capability needs - locally and nationally.
This event is designed for:
Defence industry SMEs
Prime contractors and supply chain partners
Engineers, technicians and industry professionals

Doug Phillips, BiORG
Doug Phillips is the CEO and founder of BiORG, an Australian veteran-owned Defence sustainment firm based right here in Adelaide. Doug served as a Maritime Logistics Officer in the Royal Australian Navy, graduating as a Distinguished Graduate from the Australian Defence Force Academy and earning the Governor General's Medal. He deployed on operations in the Middle East and border protection, and led logistics support for forward deployed warships. Since leaving the Navy, Doug has built a career at the heart of some of Australia's most significant Defence acquisition programs. He has served as ILS Manager for the Future Submarines Program, the Jindalee Operational Radar Network upgrade, and P-8A Poseidon sustainment. Doug leads the BiORG and Life Support International Australia teams from their Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility on Philip Highway in Elizabeth. Here they work together to sustain equipment fitted to the P-8A Poseidon aircraft operating in the Indo-Pacific region. BiORG sustains complex and critical assets by providing end-to-end Integrated Product Support: reliability engineering, technical publications, and hands-on maintenance. Behind that work is an expert team of Engineers and Product Support Managers who recognise that sustainment represents the largest share of total cost of ownership, and that sound IPS is how you control it, while keeping assets available for critical missions.
