Live comedy is back at Northies in August for another night of side-splitting laughter! We're bringing another line-up of comedians from near and far, soon to be announced and that's not all ... we'll also have half-priced pizzas on offer all night long.

Jake Howie: is a Kiwi comedian who got his start in the vibrant comedy scene of London, performing regularly at some of the world’s best clubs including Top Secret Comedy Club, Komedia and the Glee Clubs. Jake won the Reading Comedy Festival New Act of the Year competition in 2015 and placed as a finalist in the prestigious NATYS Awards, and went on to take his debut comedy hour Let Them Eat Jake to the Brighton Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe, Leicester Comedy Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and a sell-out weekend run at The Classic in Auckland. Jake has been heard on BBC Radio 4 Xtra, Talk Radio and the popular Global Pillage podcast, as well as being seen on BBC One and TVNZ.

Chris Nguyen: is a Sydney-based, Newcastle-born comedian. In 2019, his debut show ‘Relatable Material’ was nominated for the Sydney Fringe Award for Best Comedy. With a subversive wit and a penchant for jokes, he’s available for weddings, bar mitzvahs and funerals.

Frida DeGuise: Hundreds of thousands of followers on social media! It’s not easy being a mother of four, Lebanese and Muslim. For Frida Deguise, this is just her normal life. She is funny and outspoken about all the things that make her comedy unique. Being a Muslim woman, wearing a Metallica shirt and making fun of hiding explosives in her hijab, sure got a reaction! Honoring the title of Australia’s only female Islamic comic wearing a hijab, Frida pushes the boundaries of perception, shows her world with HER rules. Her over-the-top bravado is balanced with brevity. Her controversy will make you explode with laughter.

One of our favourite comedians in the country, Dan Rath is a comedian for anyone has ever had problems genuinely showing affection for a dog. His target demographic is burnouts who don't have a driver's license. His influences include self-doubt, algebra and crippling debt. He is a cult comedian. He dabbled in Scientology before being kicked out for trying to send an e-mail on an e-meter. He was audited and his company RATHEMATICS Pty Ltd went into liquidation (alcoholism).

Sean Woodland: Former Teacher, Postie, Cook, Semi Professional Australian Rules Footballer, World Wide Wonderer and Multi Award Winning Comedian, Sean is rich with experience. He burst onto the Sydney Comedy scene in formidable style, in his first year of comedy won the 'Quest for the Best', Australia's richest open mic comedy competition. He also won the iconic Crows Nest Hotel comedy competition in the same year. Sean also made the RAW Comedy state final and then finished runner-up in the nationally acclaimed Green Faces comedy competition. Sean is one of the hardest hitting comedians you’ll seem, he headlines clubs nationally including, Happy Endings Comedy Club, The Comedy Store, The Comedy Lounge Perth and has performed for the Australian Troops in Afghanistan.
With a joke per minute rate rarely seen on a stage, Sean Woodland is a comic that will stay with you for a while. He is one of the most sort after club, and corporate performers in Australia and is not to be missed.
Not limited to the stage Sean performs in sketch comedy, is a freelance writer and author, having numerous satirical pieces published in Australian magazines and newspapers.
