Event description

Kindly Hosted by Brendon Booth & Michelle Thompson in conjunction with the with Kaipara Regenerative Agriculture Group and Northland Farming Diversity Group with support from Quorum Sense and MPI.

Brendon & Michelle invite you along to their 215 acre farm near Dargaville to discuss regenerative farming on hill country in Northland.

The couple run store traded beef, pasture raised pigs and a few sheep on their diverse terrain farm. Since arriving on the property they have been using regenerative practices and permaculture principles including trialing a 20 way seed mix and using biological products such as EM to now moving towards reducing all fertiliser in favour of focusing on animal impacts.

Holistic grazing techniques will be the main topic of discussion for the day with an opportunity for those attending to see the farm in action, you’ll get to see trials of fallowed paddocks, broadcasting seed, sprayed out paddocks and drilling seed, riparian fencing and planting and listen and see the outcomes from these options.

Nick Collins a hill country beef farmer with over 30 years experience of farming biologically and using holistic grazing management will also be a guest speaker at the event. Nick will share his knowledge and learnings in relation to hill country restorative management, his work with Agrisea and more recently his role as engagement lead on a MPI funded project supporting a transition over 10 nominated farms to improved soil and ecosystem health, soil and landscape function and agro economics.
