'Northspur' screening
Event description
The Top of the South Film Festival 2024 presents a series of screenings of local feature film ‘Northspur’, made by many Top of the South Filmmakers. Northspur was produced in Nelson and Blenheim, and has sold around the world, including to Hollywood studio Lionsgate in the US, and other distributors in the UK, Russia, Germany, South Korea and Latin America. It has been playing on Air New Zealand’s Inflight Entertainment Service, and it is having its Australia/New Zealand VOD and DVD release on October 10, as well as releasing to over one billion people worldwide on the same date.
This screening features an introduction from the director of the film and afterwards a Q and A with director, writer, and crew.
"In a violent, post-pandemic world, a peace-loving man is forced on a desperate journey to find life-saving drugs for his wife - but to get them he must first help an ornery old man defend his cabin against all-comers."
The film is the last feature film of legendary Aus/NZ actor Marshall Napier (Babe, Water Rats, McLeods Daughters), and the first film of rapidly rising star Nell Fisher (Evil Dead Rise, Bookworm, Stranger Things). It also features such major talents as Josh McKenzie (La Brea, The Hunting Party), Delaney Tabron (Deathgasm, Spartacus), Michael Hurst, Kali Kopae and Rama Marrow.
