Not in our backyard: Ending the cycle of domestic violence in the Bega Valley
Event description
At its core, this training will help you to understand the issue of domestic violence and therefore recognise and respond to issues that may arise within your workplace or community.
This three-hour training is designed to teach you how to:
- Recognize signs and symptoms of domestic violence
- Respond to people experiencing violence using discreet and empathetic techniques
- Refer victims to local safety resources
This training aims to help you feel confident in knowing what to say and knowing what to do when encountering family and domestic violence. The session will also focus on prevention through education on negative and harmful gender stereotypes and inequalities that are key drivers of violence. We will discuss how experiences of family violence can affect individuals, and how you can respond to friends, family, clients, customers, or co-workers who disclose or display warning signs of family violence.
