Not Quite a Teenager - Parent Workshop for Years 5 and 6 Parents
East Commons
north sydney, australia
Event description
Your daughter might be hurtling towards adolescence, but how can you help her to reclaim and celebrate ‘girlhood’?
In this workshop, we will explore some of the pressures, emotions and challenges that your daughter might be
experiencing during these ‘not quite a teenager’ years. Psychologist and author Steve Biddulph, has written
extensively on the lost years of ‘girlhood’. In his words,“Ten-year-olds are fashion conscious (or to put it more
accurately, fashion anxious). Twelve-year-olds are mortified to wear the wrong label, or not be seen with
the cool soft drink or snack foods.” This workshop will explore ways that parents can maintain a strong
bond with their daughter, while encouraging and negotiating age-appropriate freedoms.
