Event description

Tangata whaiora artists Ruby Solly, Paula Harris, Eamonn Marra and Taranaki Ah Young-Grace ('Nahbo') fight back against the 'mad genius' trope that creatives who live with mental illness are so often labelled with, and talk peer to peer about what it's like to inhabit both the tāngata whaiora space, and the arts space. They discuss why the romanticizing of mental health takes the credit away from artistic achievement and why the concept of the ‘crazy artist’ is so persistent.
