Nothing is Real | novemberfest 2
Event description
Alexander Meagher, percussion & movement
Liam Wooding, piano
Alexander Meagher, notable in Astra concerts as percussionist and movement artist, teams up with New Zealand pianist Liam Wooding for an experimental music program. With surround sound, lighting and live performance, the concert creates an immersive experience for the audience. The program draws inspiration from the Beatles’ psychedelic music: John Luther Adams’ 4,000 Holes (inspired by "A Day in the Life") and Alvin Lucier’s Nothing is Real (based on "Strawberry Fields Forever"). The concert also includes Thierry de Mey’s Silence Must Be, a movement-based piece.
Program:
John Luther Adams: 4,000 Holes (Australian premiere) for piano and percussion & surround sound and lighting
Alvin Lucier: Nothing is Real for piano & amplified teapot
Thierry de Mey: Silence Must Be (Australian premiere) for solo conductor
