Event description

‘Nothing is what it seems’ showcases works from a project that draws inspiration from the late 19th to the early 20th centuries when Freak shows were embedded in culture, seen as an acceptable form of entertainment. These shows, while profitable for the showmen, often exploited the artists and performers of unorthodox characteristics for profit. In a nuanced tribute to diversity in shape, gender and ability, Gregg unravels the layers of this historical narrative through figurative paintings in oil paint and drawings in graphite on board.

Gregg’s artworks are often a reflection of her alternative spirit and love for unconventional beauty. From portraits that capture the raw emotions of the human experience to surreal and whimsical creations that transport you to otherworldly realms.
