Notturno: Salonnière

This event has passed Get Tickets

Event description

Enter into the exclusive scene of the salons of Paris in the late 18th century, where wealthy, connected women hosted weekly and sometimes nightly soirees in their homes. These famous and well-respected "Salonnières" controlled the flow of philosophical, scientific and political ideas and became important patrons to some of the best known musicians in Europe. Listen to chamber music by Mozart, Porro, and Hoffmeister, fresh off the page, ink still wet, and performed to the delight of those who may not have had unfettered access to the restricted world around them, but could instead invite the artistic and academic wonders of that world into their homes.
