Nourishing Parents: Supporting Youth Relationships with Food & Body

Navigating diet culture can be overwhelming. Add on the challenge of figuring out how to help the youth in your life navigate constantly-shifting body ideals and a barrage of messaging about how to ‘be healthy’—it’s a lot!

Nourishing Parents is a welcoming, structured space for you. Join other parents and caregivers who are currently navigating relationships with food and body among the youth in their lives.

These free monthly gatherings are led by a health educator and a registered dietitian from the Provincial Eating Disorder Prevention and Recovery Program. Each month provides an opportunity to explore various topics in a peer-led format including discussion, reflection, and connection.

In these sessions you will:

explore what goes into a peaceful relationship with food, body, and self.

get tools to support the mental health of the youth in your life.

increase your awareness of the spectrum of disordered eating.

learn about the impact of disordered eating through an anti-oppressive lens.

build a web of peer and other support to help you navigate diet culture.

Sessions are held from 7:00pm-8:30pm on the third Wednesday of each month, alternating between in-person groups at Ode’imin, 603 St. Mary’s Road, and virtual groups, held on MS Teams.

Bus tickets and light refreshments are provided at in-person groups. Virtual meetings can be joined from any smartphone, tablet, or computer.
