Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 May | 10am-1.30pm EACH DAY | Devonport Community House

Join acclaimed Auckland-based poet, author, and playwright Dominic Hoey for a two-day creative writing workshop focused on short stories and novel writing.

Across the weekend, you’ll explore key storytelling techniques in a supportive and inspiring environment.

  • Day One covers the fundamentals of writing fiction, with a focus on character development, dialogue, and story structure, including practical exercises and group discussions.
  • Day Two dives into setting, point of view, and editing, with the opportunity to receive personalised feedback and workshop your writing in small groups.

The course will wrap up with a reflection session to help you plan your next steps as a writer, whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your craft.
