Description
Create by the Creek
Three Tuesday evening making sessions to restore the soul and enliven the senses
Craig (Draw Plants Together) and Sarah (Snakebird Designs) invite you to a series of three Tuesday evening making sessions to relax, play, create and learn alongside the plant, animal and fungi communities of the Darebin Creek.
Let your thinking mind take the back seat - these sessions are for treating our senses and making room for experimentation and play.Â
A variety of processes centred around local, natural materials will be introduced, with techniques spanning drawing, plant pigments and weaving.Â
Each week will be guided by the happenings of place in the parklands, season shifts etc. and focus on varying techniques to deepen our relationship to ourselves and the natural world.Â
All art materials provided
Sessions take place indoor at the Gleeson Centre and outdoors in Darebin Parkalnds – for outdoor sessions, please wear suitable shoes that are good for walking over uneven ground, water bottle, snacks, sun/rain protection
Please get in touch with any access needs
The facilitators of this 3-week course are:
Sarah Muir-Smith (she/her) – forever intrigued by the alternative ways of knowing and relating that arise through playful, experimental engagement with materials. She will be sharing various forming techniques from her craft experimentation and learning with natural, abundant material
Craig Burgess (he/him) – for this course Craig brings curiosity around drawing's capacity to enliven a sense of connectedness and relationship. How can drawing – unfolded into movement and sensing, receptivity and responsiveness – support feeling connected to and part of nature?
