Event description

Nowhere Fast: Brisbane’s Punk and Post-punk Scene 1978-1982 featuring the photographs of Paul O’Brien, is a dark, dazzling, wild night-time ride into the Brisbane underground of the late 70s. The book of 85 black and white photographs, with essays by two musicians and members of the scene, Robert Forster and John Willsteed, is published by AndAlso Books.

There will be a panel discussion at 6pm on Friday, April 26 at WAG – Culture/Community which will address creativity and social relationships in Brisbane in the late 70s/early 80s, featuring Jeanelle Hurst, Ian Wadley, Anne Jones, and Adam Wolter.

This will be followed by live music at It’s Still A Secret at 8pm, featuring The Cut Snakes, The Dustbin Hoffmans, and Lovs é Blur, whose members (from Swell Guys, The Lemmings and more) are featured in the photographs.

Nowhere Fast has been supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
