A family opportunity during the school holidays... Shoalhaven Water is hosting a FREE 'Open Day' at the Nowra Wastewater Treatment Plant - Tuesday, 14 July.

Join us on a guided tour providing insight and discovery to how your wastewater is collected, treated and delivered back to the environment. We will explore why wastewater treatment is essential for maintaining a healthy environment and discuss how Shoalhaven Water is adopting environmentally responsible practices to support a circular economy in the Shoalhaven.

Nowra treatment plant was first commissioned in 1937, the first for the region at the time. A major upgrade was completed in late 2019. Latest improvements use innovative wastewater treatment technology (including filtration and two-stage disinfection) meeting current environmental and water recycling guidelines.

With an increased capacity, and linked via distribution pipelines to the Reclaimed Water Management Scheme (REMS), 90% of the output is now beneficially reused on local dairy farms and sporting facilities across the city.

All tickets are FREE, and no limit on the number of friends or family members... however, each tour is limited to twenty attendees. Looking forward to seeing you there!
