There was a time when human life moved more slowly and relationally.

People lived closely connected to season, land, light, community, movement, and rest. Winter changed behaviour. Rain changed movement. Darkness changed activity. Human rhythms adapted naturally to the conditions around them. For thousands of generations, human nervous systems evolved within these relational patterns; predictable cycles of activity and recovery, connection and reflection, movement and stillness.

Then something changed.

The Industrial Revolution did not simply introduce machines. It reshaped the way humans relate to time itself. Life became increasingly organised around speed, productivity, schedules, stimulation, and constant coordination. Over time, many people became disconnected from natural rhythm, rest, and relational ways of living.

Today, many children, families, and educators are navigating the effects of chronic urgency, overstimulation, anxiety, emotional exhaustion, and disconnection. For some children, particularly neurodivergent children, these environments can feel especially intense.

In this engaging and reflective workshop, Jaeden Williams-Briggs invites families and community members to explore how slowing down, reconnecting with seasonal rhythm, and understanding the human nervous system can support wellbeing, regulation, connection, and belonging.

Together, we will reflect on practical ways to:
• reduce chronic urgency and overwhelm
• better understand emotional regulation and nervous system responses
• support children experiencing stress, sensory overload, or attention fatigue
• reconnect with rhythm, rest, and relational practices
• create calmer, more connected family and school environments
• strengthen wellbeing for both children and adults in modern life

This workshop offers an opportunity to pause, reflect, and rediscover the importance of rhythm, relationship, and nervous system wellbeing in a fast-moving world.

Jaeden Williams-Briggs

Jaeden Williams is a proud Yalukit Willam man of the Boonwurrung, founder and director of Biik Bundjil.

Deeply connected to his heritage, Jaeden has dedicated his life to preserving and sharing Boonwurrung culture through education, storytelling, and community engagement. Through Biik Bundjil, Jaeden integrates traditional stories, language, and cultural practices into modern education, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Boonwurrung heritage.

Jaeden is also a certified hypnotherapist and trauma-informed coach, with over seven years of experience in the emotional wellbeing sector. His holistic approach to healing and education emphasises the importance of emotional resilience and cultural identity.

As a gifted storyteller, Jaeden weaves Boonwurrung stories with personal truth, showing how pain can become wisdom and wounds can become teachings. His storytelling not only educates, but inspires deep connection to the land, history, and healing. Alongside his educational work, Jaeden is also an active advocate for environmental preservation.

Through his multifaceted roles, Jaeden Williams continues to be a leading voice in the preservation and celebration of Boonwurrung culture, ensuring that the stories, language, and traditions of his people are passed on to future generations.
