Boston, MA — The NSCS Jazz Concert Series returns Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, at the Newcastle Saranac Community Studio, located at 607 Columbus Avenue in Roxbury, in the heart of Boston’s historic Jazz Square. Doors open at 6:00 PM, and the concert runs from 6:30–7:45 PM.

Gregory Groover Jr. is a New York-born, Boston-bred saxophonist, composer, and bandleader who has quickly established himself as a powerful voice in contemporary jazz. Known for his energetic, deeply expressive playing, Groover has performed at major festivals across the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Africa, earning recognition as both a compelling leader and in-demand collaborator. He has released multiple projects as a bandleader, including Negro Spiritual Songbook, Vol. 1 & 2, and made his Criss Cross Records debut with Lovabye in 2024, further solidifying his growing international presence. Seamlessly blending tradition with innovation, Groover continues to push the boundaries of jazz while honoring its roots, captivating audiences with performances driven by heart, momentum, and storytelling. In this concert he is joined by drummer Charles Haynes a versatile and dynamic drummer who has worked across genres and disciplines. His collaborators include artists such as Ed Sheeran, Queen Latifah, and Lady Gaga, as well as jazz icons like Kenny Garrett, Roy Hargrove, Robert Glasper, and Samara Joy. Rounding out the trio is Greg Loughman, a Boston-based bassist known for his warm tone, deep groove, and versatile work with artists such as Kenny Werner, George Garzone, Danilo Perez, Jerry Bergonzi, and many others.
