    Join us for a special best practices in Mathematics workshop from Dr John West, President of the Mathematics Association of Western Australia!

    Some of the important themes explored include;

    • Problem Solving Strategies
    • Assessment Strategies
    • Hands on Learning
    • Updates to the Australian Curriculum.
    • This session is designed specifically for Years 3-6. A separate workshop is offered for Year K-2.

    About Dr John West:

    John is a former teacher and lecturer in mathematics education who now works as an educational consultant and author. John has consulted for the Department of Education, the Association of Independent Schools (AISWA) and the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) as a mathematics subject matter expert. In 2020 John was employed by the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers (AAMT) to refresh the look and feel of its flagship product (Maths 300) by editing the content of the 194 existing lessons and supervising the development of new lesson content. For the past three years, John has been working on the Maths in Schools project for The University of Adelaide. The project provides FREE online professional learning for all K – 10 teachers across Australia via the Mathematics Hub (www.mathshub.edu.au), and is linked to the upcoming version 9 of the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics.

    Dr John West has worked as a teacher and lecturer in education at UWA, ECU and The University of Notre Dame Australia. Since 2021, John has worked on The University of Adelaide’s Maths in Schools project as a content writer and providing PL to teachers around Australia. He also works as a fly-in/fly-out numeracy consultant for Coober Pedy Area School. John has been President of the Mathematical Association of Western Australia (MAWA) since 2019 and has worked with Network Teach since its inception.     A SUPER SUPER LOW $10 for Network Teach Members & $20 for Non Members!

     What should I bring to the event?

    WHERE IS THE EVENT?

    The event is located at Gosnells Primary School in the library. 10 May Street in Gosnells. Parking is available in the May Street Carpark and on surrounding streets.
