Event description

Join us for another leading Professional learning workshop at a fraction of the normal price - a huge 90% off!

Presented by the distinguished, Dr Deborah Callcott.

Moving on with Literacy is a researched and published programme (Early Childhood Education Journal, 42(4) dot:10.1007/s10643-014-0652-7) which provides an add-on effect to learning. This simple program which is particularly suitable for children aged 3 years to year 1, has proven results in improving beginning literacy and movement outcomes when combined with a phonologically based beginning literacy development programme.

This programme takes into account the needs of early years educators who have limited time to develop important school readiness skills such as manual dexterity, mid line crossing and perceptual motor skills in their classroom and is designed exclusively for the classroom teacher as it is run in the classroom for 15 minutes each day  without requiring equipment or extra assistance. This programme has been endorsed by Diana Rigg (PLD) and over 2000 teachers are now using the program in Western Australian Schools.

This session will cover:

  • How do children develop their motor skills?
  • Why is there a steady decline in children motor skills
  • How are motor skills related to academic achievement and regulation?
  • Teaching of the 22 researched skills for you to use in the classroom (physical activity so wear something comfy)

AITSL aligned certification will be provided to all attendees.

A brand new Moving on with Literacy manual covering all information with photos of exercises (valued at $35) is included in the cost of the ticket.
