Numbuh is a series of wearable artworks by Bindimu Currie, influenced by Indigenous performers and Country.Â
Numbuh is a fusion of ancient stories and Blak futurism, an ongoing series of wearable artworks reconnecting Indigenous artists to Country, culture and kin and traditional methods of storytelling.Â
Bindimu Currie is a full-time multi-disciplinary artist and a proud Indigenous and Melanesian Womxn. Her practice includes painting, fibre/textile wearable art, sand sculpture and cultural dance.
Bindimu prioritises ethically sourced and natural materials highlighting the importance of preservation of cultural arts practices while living in a colonial landscape.
Opening Night: Saturday 23rd September from 6pm - 8pm
The opening night will include a runway style show of artworks, performed live by Indigenous dancers, actors and vocalists.
The exhibition will be open in Boomalli's front galleries from 23.09.23 - 07.10.23
