Event description

Gain practical skills and strategies for teaching and embedding numeracy.

These workshops are designed for vocational and LLN educators, but will also be of benefit to anyone working in education with an interest in supporting learners to succeed.

You can register for each of the workshops individually.

A special rate is available for those who register for all four workshops.
Select the 'Four-workshop series' option when registering.


Workshop dates

Workshop 1 | Numeracy | Introduction to dyscalculia

Date: Wednesday, 8 October 2025, 12.10pm - 1pm

This workshop explores adult dyscalculia and the strategies educators can use to support learners. It links to a range of resources educators can use to support dyscalculic adults.

Workshop 2 | Numeracy | Identifying the numeracy in your course

Date: Wednesday, 15 October 2025, 12.10pm - 1pm

This workshop provides a method any educator can use to identify the numeracy demands of their courses and how to prioritise these. This is a great skill and can be applied to any environment or context.

Workshop 3 | Numeracy | Fractions, decimals and percentages

Date: Wednesday, 22 October 2025, 12.10pm - 1pm

This workshop introduces key concepts of fractions, decimals and percentages and strategies to develop understanding.

Workshop 4 | Numeracy | Talanoa Numeracy

Date: Wednesday, 29 October 2025, 12.10pm - 1pm

Join us to explore how Talanoa Numeracy can help educators engage learners in meaningful discussion around numeracy, in a way that leads to enhanced engagement and learning. Talanoa Numeracy draws on the deep traditions of the Pacific Islands, specifically the concept of talanoa to support numeracy instruction.

Billing information

We accept payments by card or by invoice. At checkout you will be able to choose your payment option. Invoices are raised by Massey University on behalf of Ako Aotearoa so please note that there will be a delay between registering for the event and receiving the invoice.

PLEASE NOTE: Invoices are limited to payment from registered tertiary organisations only

If you would like to pay by invoice, before registering, please find out from your finance team:

  • the billing address and the email address you would like the invoice sent to.
  • whether or not you require a purchase number, if a purchase order number is required, please email accounts@ako.ac.nz after registering with the order number in the subject line.

Registering for others?
If you are registering other people, please make sure to select 'Email tickets to each attendee' on the registration form so that each person receives their unique access to the online course/workshop.

Registrations close two days before the course date.
