Numeric LTAAEL in unregulated water sharing plans, Goondiwindi session
Description
Targeted consultation – developing numeric LTAAELs for inland unregulated valleys
The NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is developing a method to determine the numeric long term average annual extraction limit (LTAAEL) for most inland unregulated valleys by the end of 2026.
LTAAELs set the limit on how much water can be extracted from a water source. Each water sharing plan has an annual requirement to assess current take against the LTAAEL to determine if take is compliant.
We have commenced work on the numeric LTAAEL project to undertake assessments in the remaining inland unregulated valleys.
If you hold an unregulated river access licence, please join us to find out more about LTAAELs in unregulated inland valleys and how you can help inform the method for LTAAEL compliance assessment.
