Connecting Ngadju, Noongar and Wadjella at Nowanup
Event description
We would like to share with you our follow up to last years journey into Ngadju Country where we enjoyed a special cultural exchange between Ngadju, Noongar and Wadjella. You are invited to join Elders Uncle Eugene Eades, Uncle Les Schultz and Uncle Noel Nannup at Nowanup and journeys to special sites.
Timing: From Monday mid afternoon and depart Wednesday late morning. You may stay an extra day as well.
Who can attend: This journey is open to men and women who have previously spent time on Country with one of the Elders or been on a similar journey.
Catering: Provided.
Costs: Please allow a contribution of $200 ($150 concession). There is no charge for Noongar Elders. Contact Rod if you would appreciate financial support to attend.
Bookings and Payment: Booking and payments can be made via Humantix. If you cannot use Humaitix please contact Rod Safstrom.
What to bring: Please bring your own camping gear, clothing for warm, cool and wet conditions, your musical instruments.
Shower facilities are only available for those with special needs.
This camp is made possible through volunteer contributions by the Friends of Nowanup and payments by participants.
This camp is subject to Covid restrictions and is drug and alcohol free
PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT
Nurturing Connections across the Songlines Camp at Nowanup
I understand that this is a community-initiated event organized by the non-incorporated organization Friends of Nowanup and made possible through members of the Friends of Nowanup taking on voluntary organizational and practical roles. All money collected will be spent to cover Elders fees, food, camp logistics etc.
The Nurturing Connections Camp involves activities that may encompass, among other things, physical exertion, and personal sharing.
- 1. I know of nothing concerning my physical, emotional or mental health that would make my participation in the Journey inappropriate, unwise or unsafe to myself or to others.
- 2. I agree that should my participation become actually or potentially harmful to my health and well-being, and or to the health and well-being of the participants, I will withdraw from it or from any part of it.
- 3. I accept that the Friends of Nowanup accepts no liability whatsoever for any physical, emotional or mental injury or illness to me, or for the loss of my personal property, arising, or said to arise, as a result of or as a consequence of my participation in the Kambarang Camp
- 4. I hereby indemnify the community and those volunteering for organizational roles from any liability whatsoever and howsoever arising from loss or damage caused by me, suffered by me or caused to me, and/or to my personal property as a consequence of my participation in the Journey
- 5. Our philosophy on the Kambarang Camp is one of Respect and all care will be taken to minimise our impact on the environment and support each other.
I, the undersigned, hereby acknowledge that:
- I have read and accepted the above conditions of participation.
- I will cooperate with plans and procedures that have been designed to minimise the risk of accidents, injuries and other trauma.
