About NZCOM
The New Zealand College of Midwives (NZCOM) is the professional organisation and recognised voice for over 90% of midwives and student midwives in Aotearoa New Zealand. It promotes high standards of practice, offers education and resources, and works with partners to ensure quality maternity services.
We also offer 'care for the carers' opportunities, such as this Draw It Out workshop.
Included in your workshop
You will be guided by Lara Phillips, a trained creative facilitator in Interactive Drawing Therapy, through drawing prompts (similar to a guided meditation or journaling) to draw out where you are at and draw out your own inner guidance. No art skills are needed, more simple mark making.
This gentle yet powerful tool uses drawing and writing as a way to access your subconscious and to listen to your heart rather than your head for guidance. A tool often used in therapy, it is made accessible for self-care and community or organisational wellness through these fun and friendly workshops.
About Lara Phillips
Lara Phillips is a creative facilitator trained in Interactive Drawing Therapy. With a 20 year career in creative copywriting in design and communication, she shares drawing and writing as a way of wellness and self-care, to promote preventative and proactive mental health measures through creativity.

Draw It Out offers creativity for wellbeing. It is not intended as therapy nor does it replace counselling, therapy, or any other medical or clinical professional help. Participants are guided to draw out where they are at, whilst drawing out their own inner resources for support and guidance.
Participants understand it is their own responsibility to manage their mental and physical health during sessions, to opt in and out of activities as they see fit, and make the facilitator aware if further support is required.
