Did you know up this 'water factory' can clean up to 400 million litres of stormwater each year?

The Oaklands Wetland is home to an extensive array of wildlife such as waders, cockatoos, ducks and many majestic river red gums.

Learn how this system cleans water as it moves slowly through a series of ponds. It takes three days for the water to move through the wetland, where it can be injected into aquifers almost 100m below ground. More than 31 local parks and reserves, street trees and playing fields are irrigated with water from Oaklands Wetland.

Meet your guide David (volunteer) at the Oaklands Education Centre (on the western corner of the reserve bordering Oaklands Road).

Things to note

This is a one-hour tour with a 30 minute presentation (inside) and a 30 minute walking tour.
The tour may be difficult for those with mobility issues.
Parking can be limited; please allow time for this.
The maximum number of participants for each tour is 20 people.
Tours require a minimum of 2 registrations to proceed.
At this stage, we cannot offer bespoke tours for larger groups

Parking and access information:

The session begins at the Oaklands Education Centre. Please use the Oaklands Recreation Plaza carpark next to the skate park and opposite Hamley Street. You can access this carpark from Oaklands Road. Please do not park in the carpark off of the Parade W.

From the Oaklands Recreation Plaza carpark, walk towards the Oaklands Education Centre which is the blue building (see photo below).
