OBN Business Breakfast Event - September 2026
Does AI know your website exists?
How Ōmokoroa customers are using AI to find businesses - and what it means for yours
More and more people are skipping Google and asking AI tools like ChatGPT to recommend a business. So when a customer asks AI to find a cafe, a builder or an accountant in Ōmokoroa, does your business come up - or does it send them somewhere else?
That's the question at the heart of this month's OBN business breakfast, where web consultant Donna Anderson-Jones will unpack what the shift to AI-powered search means for local businesses, and why it's happening faster than most owners realise.
Pitched in plain English with the jargon left at the door, this is for small business owners who want to understand where they stand.
Over breakfast, Donna will cover:
What's actually changing in how people search, and the New Zealand numbers behind it
A demo with real local queries into ChatGPT to show which Ōmokoroa businesses show up in AI answers, and which are invisible
Why a good website on its own is no longer enough to be found
Practical things you can do next, whatever your budget or tech know-how
You'll leave knowing whether AI knows you exist or how to find out - and what to do about it if it doesn't.
This month we're at The Links Cafe, the new cafe at the Ōmokoroa Golf Club - a great chance to check out the new facilities while supporting a local venue.
All local business owners and employees welcome. Come along, meet other local business people, and start your day with something genuinely useful.
