Event description

OBSERVATION TICKETS: MEISNER WITH JULIA GRACE

Want to know how to talk to actors? Wondering what intense actor training looks like? Wondering how Mill actors and Mill shows are so authentic and polished?

For the first time the doors are open to the special actor training days held at the Mill Theatre at Dairy Road. For $10 you can attend all or some of this day. Mill Theatre actors are the only participants and this is because they are contracted and paid to work and provided these training opportunities by the Mill in order to enrich their craft.

The idea of these observation tickets is just to open the door and let Canberra in. If you like the work, you can use it yourself, or maybe come to an audition workshop and join us in 2025!

ABOUT JULIA

Want to work in a way that feels spontaneous, authentic and alive?

Do you feel like you’re endlessly sending off self-tapes but never getting anywhere?

Have you lost the reason you became an actor in the first place?

Are you a director who lacks the tools to communicate effectively to get the performance you want from your actors?

I’ve been working as an actor, coach and teacher for over fifteen years in Australia, the USA and New Zealand. I specialise in helping actors and directors access their Creative Genius to produce bold, unique and magnetic work.

I specialise in the Meisner Technique & Viewpoints fused with my classical acting training and real world experience working in the industry.

If you’re an actor I can help you:

  • Work with bravery, ownership and authenticity
  • Assess where your process might be letting you down
  • Rekindle your love for the craft, whether you’re working in the industry or have chosen another career but have always held a flame for acting.

If you’re a director I can help you:

  • Build a language that actors will respond to
  • Clarify your vision
  • Deepen character development

LOCATION

The Mill Theatre is in Building 3.3, the Screencraft and KeepCo building which is a short walk from Capital Brewing. There are two easy ways to approach the Theatre:

PARK in P3 at the back of the precinct. From there you will see building 3.3 which has a large Screencraft sign. The public entrance is just up from that sign (not underneath it!). Once inside, walk about 5 metres and the theatre is to the right, next to Mojo Guitars.

WALK from Capital Brewing or the Less sculpture into the KeepCo building, pass Ramen Daddy and at the end of the corridor we are on the left.

PARKING

All parking in the precinct is free with several accessible parking spots in all the parking locations. The best spot to park is P3 at the back of the precinct. If you park elsewhere please be warned that signage and way-finding around the precinct is extremely difficult. Arrive in plenty of time to possibly get lost, possibly be in a bad mood, and remedy that with a drink at our bar before enjoying a smashing show!
