Obvara Firing Demonstration

Join in on the excitement that is Obvara Firing! This ancient technique uses only natural ingredients to scald the clay creating permanent  organic fern-like markings. Jacqui Sosnowski, also known as "Obavara wan Kanobe", has been perfecting the process for over 8 years and has written a book on the subject. She will be presenting at the Wedge Ceramics Triennial this year.

Bring your own pots (2-3 grapefruit size) bisque fired and made from raku clay (white looks best) and Jacqui will "pull" them from the kiln. See them change right in front of your eyes. After cooling the pots are ready to take home. This technique is perfect for the impatient potter!
