Join us for an immersive and hands-on experience at the Ocean Drum Crafting Ceremony in Coorabell, Byron Shire, NSW, Australia, Saturday April 12 and Sunday April 13, 9.30am-5.00pm AEDST. (Note: this is not a residential, and full address will be provided on registration).
Everyone is welcome; this is a gender-inclusive workshop, a shared space embracing both the masculine and feminine. This is an intimate event with a maximum of 8 participants.
For the duration of this two-day workshop, you will be held in a safe and sacred space, fully guided and supported in the process of intentionally and consciously crafting your own ocean drum. No prior experience is necessary.
The journey of crafting an ocean drum is a deeply reflective and creative process, woven through three key aspects:
- Connecting with the element of water and its teachings on flow, adaptability, and presence
- Building a relationship with your drum as a sacred vessel for sound and reflection
- Honouring your personal connection to nature as a source of healing, renewal, and life
We will craft the drums using ethically sourced Kangaroo and Pine hoops. The spirit of the elements and materials will be honoured with deep reverence and gratitude, creating a drum that resonates with the sacred rhythm of the ocean.
What's included:
- All materials for creating a 15" ocean drum (If you have a desire for a specific drum size or animal hide you wish to work with, please get in touch and we can discuss)
- Nourishing vegetarian morning and afternoon tea each day
Note: Workshop payment via Bank Transfer is also available. Please email zaana@camino.au
Why craft an ocean drum?
Crafting your own ocean drum can be a profound and empowering experience, guiding you into the depths of flow and adaptability while inviting clarity and self-discovery. The process reveals your inner rhythm, supporting personal transformation and creative renewal.
The ocean drum connects us to the element of water, an ancient symbol of emotion, intuition, and flow. Its soothing sound mimics the ebb and flow of waves, grounding us in the rhythms of nature and inspiring inner stillness and connection. This sacred instrument can be used for ceremony, meditation, healing, soundscapes, and group connection.
Sound, like water, flows across all cultures. The resonance of the ocean drum invites us into a state of harmony, calming the nervous system, inspiring creativity, and deepening our connection to the fluid essence of life.

How to prepare:
Birthing an ocean drum will be informed by your connection to life's rhythms, your unique flow and relationship to water. It is helpful to bring as much awareness as you can to your journey with adaptability, and flow in life - what supports and constrains your flow.
How you show up also influences your experience and ability to receive so we also recommend being prepared with clear intentions and an open heart and mind.
