    Event description

    The Berwick and District Bushwalking Club invites you to join them on a Ocean Views Cape Woolamai Circuit walk. Grade 3 (Medium). This walk is part of the Try Bushwalking Month, celebrating the 90th Anniversary of Bushwalking Victoria, the peak body representing 60+ bushwalking clubs across Victoria. 

    Beach and coastal heathland walking at its best! A wonderful walk around Cape Woolamai with stunning ocean views, breath-taking scenery and an abundance of wildlife. Plenty of photo opportunities.

    DISTANCE: 11km loop walk taking approximately 4.5 hours

    WHO IS THIS WALK FOR? This walk is for reasonably fit walkers because of the length and the steps to and from the beach with 2 kms of soft sand walking. No bushwalking experience is needed.

    CHILDREN AND PETS:  This walk is for adults 18 years and over, and due to the nature of the walk, we ask you to leave dogs and other pets at home.  Please contact the club directly to inquire about service animals, and any family or pet friendly walks.  

    AWT GRADE 3 (Medium): A mix of beach and steps. AWT Grade information. 

    PACE: Slow and steady pace to accommodate all walkers with stops for morning tea and lunch

    TOTAL ASCENT: 128m 

    WALK DESCRIPTION: From the carpark walk to Cleeland Bight then along the beach to the site of the old granite quarry. From here the walk heads up the steps to the headland past the shearwater rookeries. Walk through the coastal heathland with The Pinnacles and other spectacular rock formations with amazing views of the bay and the ocean. Descend via steps to the beach and walk along the beach returning to the carpark

    MEETING POINT: Anzac Beach carpark (First carpark off Woolamai Beach Road, on RHS). Google map.

    DIRECTIONS: Take Phillip Island Road from San Remo, turn left at Woolamai Beach Road and travel 3.3 Km to Carpark on right.  

    CARPOOLING/PUBLIC TRANSPORT: No public transport or carpooling not available on this walk.

    PHONE SIGNAL:  Available through most of the walk.

    TOILETS: Yes, at the start/end of the walk. 

    WHAT TO BRING

    Mandatory:

    • Emergency contact form with medical info (from welcome pack)
    • 1.5L water
    • Backpack
    • Rain jacket
    • Hiking shoes/boots
    • Personal first aid kit (your health is your responsibility)
    • Sun hat/sunscreen

    Recommended:

    • Lunch 
    • Hiking poles
    • Bug spray

    ABOUT OUR CLUB: Berwick and District Bushwalking Club is a small friendly group of walkers who enjoy the outdoors and nature. We welcome new members to the club. We cater for all levels of experience and fitness and there will be a walk to suit most people. We walk every Sunday usually within an hours travel time from Berwick. Visit our website.
