Oceans Together - ANU Drill Hall Gallery
Event description
“...Ginsburg rains gorgeous melodies about our ears” - John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald.
Oceans Together is a delicate, lyrical and evocative quartet that’ll take you on an uplifting musical journey. This breathtaking group is led by composers Mark Ginsburg and Ryan Grogan, alongside close collaborators Brendan Clarke and Fabian Hevia.
The distinctive nature of the music is one of delicacy, with beautiful and sometimes haunting melodic lines that embrace a certain vulnerability. The use of hand percussion, instead of the more traditional drum kit, propelled the composers further in this direction, adding to the sense of intimacy and space in the music.
The title, Oceans Together, reflects the varied shores, musical influences and social landscapes of the comprised musicians. Each instrumentalist has an impressive background of many individual accomplishments, as well as a long history of working together that lends itself to a metaphysical musical connection.
Join Oceans Together, as they perform a series of contemplative, inviting, and gentle musical experiences.
This tour is produced by SIMA with the support of Playing Australia and Create NSW.
The studio album features bassist Brett Hirst.
