Their approach to teaching is an eclectic mix and knowledge of various Japanese rope bondage styles. This informs their own unique style of facilitating to deliver their insights into the deeper meanings behind the practices of Shibari/Kinbaku.
Teaching the 'why' we do what we do to consider safety and technical engineering. She believes in a 360 degree learning experience, workshopping ideas, focussing on model led teaching, and embodies the somatic aspects to rope bondage.
Jess is a registered, trauma trained psychotherapist using an integrative approach with the modality of DMT (dance movement therapy). @somaticexperiencestudio
Magnus (he/him) a shibari teacher, performer and practitioner who showcases shibari as a pathway to deep connection and emotional intensity.
His style is influenced by explorations of tantric polarity, ecstatic movement, and encompassing men's work support. He creates and leads with experiences that are grounding, erotic and heart-opening.
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):
Q. What should I wear?
A. We suggest you wear something comfortable, ensuring ease of movement. For anyone wearing a bra, we recommend wearing one without the metal wire (like a sports bra). It could be painful if we practice a chest harness and you are the model.
Q: Do I need to bring my own ropes?
A: Yes, at this stage it is expected your kit will be 6-10 hanks of rope and safety shears. If you need to buy rope please follow our supplier here.
Q. Do I need a partner for these classes?
A. Yes. We do not teach self tying at this class. The tix includes the cost of your model.
Q. What if I miss one of the classes?
A. The ticket covers two classes. If you miss one, you can opt to attend one intermediate class on the northside for that month. Please advise.
Q. Two classes is not enough to keep my practice going, how can i learn more rope?
A. No worries! You can attend one class or two classes on the northside in between. You will need to contact Jess @peerropemelbourne to arrange this.
Also, each class/course is led by one of our exceptional teachers, and each of them features a unique teaching style and may introduce additional ties and styles, providing you with a well-rounded learning experience. You may like to book a private class with them.
Q. Can I get a refund if I miss a class or the entire course?
A. Unfortunately, tickets are non-refundable however, they can be transferred to another person (for the same event). In the event you miss a class, you will have the option to transfer to one of the four classes on the northside. If you miss the entire course - you may transfer to the next course on the next month. Please advise if this is the case.
Contact Jess through @starlove.shibari or @peerropemelbourne on Instagram or email us at info@peerropemelbourne.au to facilitate the transfer.
