Spring Rope Jam
Description
Let's keep the rope flowing and go freestyle this Winter!
This is an opportunity to experiment, learn and collaborate with others! Feel free to tie on your own, with your partner/friend/someone new, ask questions or just watch.
This is the first of our seasonal rope jams on the southside housed at the beautiful venue at Grass Roots in St Kilda. An ex flour mill with a red beam as part of the supporting structure running through the centre of the room for suspension, including floor mats and mirrors, curtains that enter into a chill out zone. Light snacks and tea/water provided.
We welcome the KinkDojo.com in a collaborative effort to support the rope jam. They will be setting up a projector for a cinema area to watch some shibari videos showcasing some well known sensei's from Japan and around the world.
REMEMBER:
This is a relaxed event for people pursing their rope practice, and is open to all levels including observers.
This is not a lesson. We will be there to supervise and, of course, always happy to answer any questions and provide a few suggestions if you need, but we won't be teaching.
This is not intended to be a 'party' - if for for people to bring their rope skills and to socialize.
Limited spots available ! - Doors open at 1pm - last entry at 4pm. Concluding at 5pm.
GUIDELINES:
Everyone is welcome. PRM is an all inclusive group who welcome people of all rope experience, gender identities, orientations, ages, roles, walks of life. We expect that all of our attendees will respect that.
Consent This is the cornerstone of safe and fun Shibari. Consent must be voluntarily and enthusiastically given by everyone involved, all with a sound state of mind and sufficient information to make informed decisions. Shibari has inherent risks that all participants have to accept, and it is expected that you will have looked into those risks, but if you are in doubt or unsure please ask before doing something. Don't touch anyone or their rope without their verbal permission. Please ensure your pre-negotations have been completed before undertaking any practice. And most importantly, have fun.
Dont interrupt If someone is tying, being tied, self tying, providing aftercare or otherwise in a scene then please leave them to it. But of course, this is a pubic event, so hang out and watch. If you feel the need to talk to someone, wait until they are finished the activity and approach politely. Supervisor's reserve the right to interrupt in a scene where they feel serious or imminent bodily danger may be present.
Participate at an appropriate risk level It's human nature to want to impress others, and that can be common in rope spaces especially. Instead of trying something well outside your experience, impress people by doing something that you know perfectly. If you suspend, make sure your suspension lines and upline management areon point. PRM uses Risk Aware Consensual Kink (RACK) Safe Sane Consensual (SSC). You are welcome to practice new things or try new experiences, just do so in a safe way. In general, actively decide your risk profile and communicate that with the person you are tying with.
Respect the anonymity of others Please remember that some people do not want their kink life and vanilla life to overlap. This is their decision, respect it. Don't ask prying questions and don't push it if someone doesn't answer your question. People are usually very open though, so come along and meet some nice people.
Photography is only allowed with consent If you want to take photos, you must request the consent of everyone in the photo including those in the background. Photos with others in the background are not permitted without their explicit consent. In general, take photos with only the studio walls in the background. Remember, your focus should be on your and your partner's experience, not your photo.
Keep it Rope While we don't mind other elements in your play we ask that you keep it rope-centred. A few spanks here and there isn't a problem but not full on flogging session.
No Candles For fire safety purposes we do not permit any play involving the use of fire. This includes waxplay.
Respect the venue and the neighbors Please keep any rope play, play and kink talk inside the room. When you are inside, feel free to wear whatever you are comfortable in. Feel free to feel sexy, but NO NUDITY.
Keep the noise down While we want people to be able to express themselves we also want to create an atmosphere that is conducive to good headspaces. By all means talk and get to know people, just be mindful of your noise level. We don't mind people making noises in rope!
No drugs or alcohol Do not turn up drunk or high, you will be denied admission. Do not do any of this while there either.
Keep the venue clean If you make a mess, clean it up. Wipe down your mats after use with the spray inside the cupboard
If we think you are being unsafe, PRM and its supervisors will intervene and make no apology for it.
