Indigenous Talking Stick

Across tens of thousands of years, First Nations peoples have used story, land and ritual to pass down wisdom, truth and connection.

Nature’s Teachings is a guided reflective experience inspired by Indigenous talking stick practices, where participants will carve and sand a natural branch, slowly revealing the textures, lines and marks beneath the surface.

As we work with the material, we will reflect on what nature teaches us about resilience, patience and truth: how strength is built over time, how stories deserve space to be heard, and how listening is as powerful as speaking. The talking stick becomes both a creative object and a symbolic reminder of respect, presence and shared voice.

This session is held with cultural care and deep respect for First Nations knowledge systems, acknowledging the custodians of the land on which we gather.

No carving experience is required. Bring your own stick. If you have a knife that is sharp enough to carve wood, and access to a metal pain scrapper, please bring it with you. We try to share resources as a community.

All proceeds from this fundraiser support Full Circle Social Enterprises, helping fund leadership and education programs for young people growing up within unequal systems.
