October Field Day - Ring Tree Bend
Event description
Let the Bells Ring Loud
for Ring Tree Bend
Hear ye, hear ye, hear ye
(bell rings) (bell rings) (bell rings)
Let the bells ring loud
From Moana to the Mountains
(Well, a mid-size range of hills at least, in the east)
From the sea to the source
Of our resurrecting Pedler stream
Come next Sunday
We gather again in praise and homage of
Creeks. Yes, that’s right, Creeks
And drainage lines and streams
And rivulets, runnels and runoff
Of all things riparian and right
This time we gather at Ring Tree Bend
And may the bells ring loud on end
For the coming together of devoted volunteers
On hands and knees
To get rid of pesky feral trees
And any other things our team leaders ask, please
All the way we go to the Springs of Blewitt
Yes, I knew it
And so now, do we all
Give praise
90 Douglas Gully Road
Near the end of BMV’s world
But near the beginnings of our beloved creek
Or at least a tributary, sometimes with water knee deep
(And frogs too, needeep, needeep, needeep)
And what of Ring Tree Bend
Well, it’s on the mend
As well as being on a watercourse bend
And named after a tree, your see
A tree with a ring
Formed when two limbs joined
By nature, or culture, it cannot be a sure thing
But let no man (ahum, person) put asunder
But sure, we can be
Of a good feed with water, wine and glee
As the waters eventually find the sea
See you there!
