Event description
Odd lifts: The Debut
Hosted by Sam & Hugo from Valkyrie Gym!
Prepare to make history with a never-before-seen workshop with no rivals: Odd lifts
Meet your Hosts!
HIIIIIIIII!!!! It's us and we can't wait to come meet y'all!
💪 Hugo: Head Coach. Hugo has worked in the fitness industry over a decade. He's a StrongFirst Team Leader, and is qualified in stacks of movement modalities. He's passionate about bringing strength to the masses and teaching people how to get strong instead of the reckless abandon most strength facilitators use with their clients.
💃 Sam: Vibe Check. Sam is a community aficionado and brings care and empathy to the strength world. She's laser-focused on removing shame and blame from movement, and creating space for all folks to access quality education and meaningful engagement on and off the gym floor.
✅ Sam and Hugo have been training and teaching strength skills to folks from all walks of life for a fair while
✅ They've honed their skills in communication over the years and they're absolutely unbeatable as a charades team
✅ They reckon spice is the variety of life... or whatever way around you prefer
SO what the heck is this workshop?
We do things a liiiiiitttle bit different at Valkyrie Gym.
But if you're not currently living in Mayfield, why should you miss out?!
Odd Lifts was designed by Sam and Hugo to bring some of that Big Valkyrie Energy to your local gym.
"We just want to keep strength playful, and reintroduce some stuff that's worked for like centuries in the strength world."
It's basically a showcase extravaganza of new things you've probably never seen before; all of which are tried and tested ways to get strong and more mobile, while keeping your brain plasticity nice and squishy.
New flavours for you to try:
🌬️ The Windmill
🍺 Bottoms-up
✌️ 2BAWA
🤹♂️ Kettlebell Juggling
These are a few of the movement patterns we'll be covering, with some spicy variations as well!
Who should go to this thing?
Look, we get it.
It can be really simple, and seem the most productive to continue to just do the same things you've always done.
Why put yourself out there?
Meet new people, learn new things, get in front of qualified coaches and risk having a good time?
We understand.
Sometimes we want to stay home too.
If you're feeling brave, you might like to join us for Odd Lifts if you:
🐸 Are a curious person (or a movement nerd. or just open minded.)
🐸 Are interested in expanding your catalogue of movements and modalities, or just dipping your toe in other methods
🐸 Like having a good ol time with your mates at the gym!
You don't need to have any particular experience, or any prerequisite strength, or even be training regularly.
We'd love to meet you just as you are.
Please let us know prior to the event if you have any accessibility requirements or questions around past injuries or restrictions.
Bring your buddy for a discount!
